A small company by choice, we choose to limit our active projects because we hold ourselves to extremely high standards that simply cannot be met with large volume style production. Many contractors and construction companies are able to offer their services at lower rates than Cottage Craft for a number of reasons, such as the large company with high volume sales and small or one man shop with low overhead. Unfortunately high volume all too often results on low quality and one man shops often mean an overstretched distracted contractor. We charge a fair price so we can employ skilled, experienced craftsmen who are dedicated to consistently providing their excellent quality to Cottage Craft’s clients. It is up to the homeowner to decide what their priorities are and where they are willing to compromise. Sometimes the decision is aided by the homeowner’s intentions – whether they are doing a minor cosmetic facelift to sell their home or whether they are “nesting” remodeling their entire to home suit their family’s long term needs.
Next to purchasing the house itself, remodeling is probably the biggest investment a homeowner will make. It is an undertaking that involves considerable amounts of time and money and can be a rewarding experience…or a complete nightmare. The relationship that develops between the homeowner and their remodeling contractor is unique but in many ways not unlike marriage: it involves sharing private spaces, ongoing efforts at productive communication, large amounts of trust, significant amounts of money and a willingness to commit to sticking together to the end. This is not something to be taken lightly. We appreciate the trust our clients give us when inviting us into their homes and strive to do our part being everything that makes a great contractor – honorable, dependable, accountable, helpful, skilled, fair, conscientious, communicative and trustworthy.
Remodeling is not for the faint of heart and should be undertaken with a good understanding of the process involved before any work commences. At best, homeowners put themselves in a compromising position by entrusting their home to someone they don’t know well and at worst, someone they don’t know at all. We encourage our clients to be careful, ask questions and make sound decisions. Some contractors are sensitive to their clients, are careful with personal belongings, keep the jobsite clean, are courteous and respectful, are available when needed, follow through with their commitments and treat their projects as if it were their own home. And some contractors are not.
The results of a remodeling project should be an enduring investment of intrinsic value to the homeowner and of financial value to the property. With that in mind, our definition of quality remodeling goes beyond the expected normal and customary industry standards. Our goal is to have clients for life – people who come back to us for every project they undertake, refer us to everyone they know and have all of our clients find us strictly by referral. To accomplish this, we develop relationships of trust and respect with our clients by treating them as if they were our own family and their homes as if we ourselves lived in them. From making sure we protect floors from muddy feet to selecting the best quality materials, cleaning up after ourselves and paying attention to the smallest detail, we continually ask ourselves “Would I want this in MY house?” Once you have met us and realize how picky we are, you will appreciate what this personal approach means to you and your own home.
We are licensed, bonded, insured and prepared to take on any remodeling project. Take your time to do your homework; research your project, your options and especially your contractor. We are in no hurry to sell you anything because know that careful planning is the key to a flawless experience and we save our hustle for working.
